Vergie Nell Hammond Nichols

Mrs. Vergie Nell Hammond Nichols, 83, of Seneca, loving wife of 66 years to the late Billy “Bill” Nichols, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Prisma Hospital in Greenville, SC.

Vergie was a member of the Seneca Church of God of Prophecy since 1989, but faithfully attended several years prior. She enjoyed fellowshipping with her church family, worshipping the Lord, reading her Bible, daily prayer, gardening, and drinking coffee.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Trina Elliott (Randy) and Amanda Peacemaker; four great-grandchildren, brother; Weldon Hammond (Linda); and a number of nieces and nephews.

Vergie is preceded in death by her parents, Waverly and Nola Hammond; her son, Richard E. “Rick” Nichols; sisters, Ivera Whitfield, Estelle Chaney, and Grace Heaton; brothers, Preston Hammond, Lonnie Hammond, Bill Hammond, and Ernie Hammond.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 10 am at the Seneca Church of God of Prophecy, located at 1016 Overbrook Drive Seneca, SC 29678.

Cremation Society of SC - Brown Funeral Home in Seneca, SC is assisting the family of Mrs. Nichols.
