Robert Sidney Rice

Robert Sidney Rice Born December 15, 1934, to Dorothy and David Rice in Winter Haven, Florida passed peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on April 23, 2024.

Robert moved to South Carolina, in the last 30 years of his life, to be closer to his family here. Robert spent his days taking care of his wife, Leanette, and waiting for his daily visits from his grandchildren. Robert, best known as “papa” will be remembered for his contagious smile, storytelling and stubborn personality. He could tell you any story or joke and instantly make you fall in love with him. He loved his family fiercely and that memory of him will live on through his family.

He is survived by his 3 sisters; Mary (Ronnie), Alice, and Dottie. He is also survived by his loving wife, Leanette and daughter Judy Sanders (Ricky), his grandchildren; Robby (Tammy), Mandy, Ashley (Ryan), Steven “little Stevie” and Jessica (Paul). Of all the people he loved most are his remaining grandchildren; Layne, Carmen, Olivia, Ethan, Reece, Blake, Alex and Charli.

Robert was also an honorary “Papa” to his extended family to which he held close to his heart. A father, a friend, a grandfather, loving husband, Robert filled all of those titles with the greatest honor. Robert undoubtedly left an impression on everyone he met and will forever be remembered. He is preceded in death by his two sons; Johnny and Steven and parents. A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
