Robert (Bob) Hessel, age 55, of Westminster, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on
April 25, 2025. He was born on September 21, 1969 in St. Louis, Missouri to Bill and Carol
Hessel. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Michele; beloved children, daughter
Julie Higgs and husband Cody of Imperial, Missouri, daughter Kaileigh Sutherland and husband
Ryan of Clemson, South Carolina, son Zane Hessel and wife Lexi of Simpsonville, South
Carolina, cherished grandchildren, Violet, August and Margot-Ryan; mother, Carol Hessel,
brother, Bill Hessel Jr. and many other relatives and friends that are family. Bob was preceded in
death by his father, Bill Hessel.
Bob served in the Air Force and continued his love for aviation throughout his career in aircraft
structures. He loved being "Bobo" to his grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing,
golf, spending time on the lake and spoiling his sweet dogs.
Bob will be remembered for his love for his family and friends, his sense of humor and his desire
to help those in need. He impacted the lives of many people throughout his years of serving in
the local church and through community outreach.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at South Carolina Botanical Garden Carriage House, 150
Discovery Lane, Clemson, SC 29634, on Sunday, May 25, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Please
