He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Terry Naster; his five children; two daughters-in-law; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law. Rick cherished his family deeply and was a source of wisdom and strength to all who knew him. After graduating from college, Rick proudly served in the U.S. Army for four years. A dedicated veteran, he often said, “I would do it again if I could,” when thanked for his service. Following his military service, Rick pursued his passion as a Gemologist, founding Gem Creations, a jewelry manufacturing and design company in Chicago, IL. Known for his integrity and generosity, Rick built a close-knit workplace where friends and employees alike sought his guidance and admired his leadership. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched through his business. Rick was also a 32nd degree Mason and a proud member of the Medinah Temple in Chicago. Among his many accomplishments, he took the greatest pride in being a member of the Patriot Guard Riders, honoring and protecting the families of veterans and fallen military heroes. It was his highest honor to serve with the Honor Flight accompanying WWII veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials in their honor. In 2000, Rick retired to Seneca, SC, with the love of his life, Terry. He enjoyed a peaceful retirement riding motorcycles and spending time with the family he adored. Rick’s cremains will be laid to rest at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC. The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Rick’s name to the American Cancer Society.
