Penny Leigh Thompson Hunter “Nana”
Seneca, South Carolina
Penny Leigh Thompson Hunter, known to her loved ones as “Nana”, aged 60, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at her home in Seneca, South Carolina. Born on September 2, 1964, she was the loving wife of 26 years to Timothy Scott Hunter Sr. and daughter of the late Georgia A. Greak.
After graduating from high school Penny served our nation in the United States Army. She was an avid reader who loved the beach and worked in retail at Target and in industry at TDK Manufacturing.
The children of Mrs. Hunter have lovingly written the following message for the public regarding their mother:
“Our mom was an incredible soul. She not only accepted the extraordinary job of mothering us, but she was a part of our successes and loved us unconditionally through our failures. She fought a long and hard battle with ALS and she was happy, hopeful and strong each day. Although we will miss her terribly, we have peace in the fact that she is with our Lord. We just know that she is walking around outside and having a glorious reunion with her mom. She’s drinking her margarita and has her beloved cats in her arms.
In addition to her husband, Penny is survived by her children; Timothy Hunter Jr. (Jennifer) of Georgia, Dustin Hunter of Seneca, Katie Clough (Adam) of Seneca, and Kevin Hunter (Katelyn) of Georgia, grandchildren; Grayson Clough, Aura Clough, Dustin Ray Hunter Jr., Tristin & Isabela Hunter, and Leland Trubach, siblings; Vickie Eckley Michael Thompson, Dawn Renee Perkins, and John R. Long, aunt; Sue Kaiser, and uncle William Greak, nieces; Georgia Lynn Scott, Danielle Hall, Holly Long, and nephew; Dane Long.
Flowers are accepted and may be purchased through McClain's Flowers & Gifts in Walhalla at 311-A East Main Street or online at www.McClainsCustomSilks.com. If any would rather donate the family has asked that contributions in Penny's honor be made to the ALS foundation at www.ALS.org
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Mountain View Funeral Home in Seneca, South Carolina from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM with a funeral service to be held immediately after from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM.
The family has requested that friends and family who attend the services dress in color as Nana would not have wanted it to be a day of sadness, but one of comfort and celebration in honor of the life she lived and lives she touched.
