Meg Littleton

December 22, 1970 — March 27, 2023

Margaret “Meg” Ann Littleton, kindhearted, caring and compassionate, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, March 27th, 2023, at the age of 52. She had been struggling with the onset of nocturnal seizures for the past couple of years.

Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on December 22nd, 1970, Meg entered this world as the youngest of five children and was truly a bright light to her family. She established herself as an animal advocate from a very early age, an interest that later influenced every facet of her life. Meg learned this benevolence towards animals from her Mother.

After graduating from Alamo Catholic High School in Amarillo, Meg went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies from Texas State University. She married twice and lived in Austin, Texas; Asheville and Highlands, North Carolina. Recently, she relocated to Salem, South Carolina. Meg thoroughly loved the quiet charm and natural beauty of upstate South Carolina.

Meg’s joy and passion was rescuing animals. She started bringing home stray dogs and cats while in elementary school. Meg became an accomplished equestrian and competed in equine show events at the age of seven. She rode for countless hours with her Father at Range Riders Equestrian center in Amarillo. She adopted rescue horses and always found room for them at her stables. Horses brought Meg her greatest happiness. For a time, that happiness included her farm and stables in the Blue Valley area of Highlands, North Carolina.

Meg loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her siblings: Greg Littleton (Julie Littleton) of Tulsa, OK; Susan Littleton (Elsa Hinojosa) of Austin, TX; Phil Littleton (Julene Littleton) of Eugene, OR; Paul Littleton (Lauren Littleton) of Vaughn, WA; three nieces, five nephews, and one great-nephew. She is predeceased by her parents, Ensor Leon Littleton and Barbara Schulz Littleton.

Meg is also survived by her rescue animal family: four horses; Renacer, Harley, Luna, and Ellie, three dogs; Scruffy, Odin and Ava, and two cats; Gabby and Sophie.
