Margaret Leslie Buxton
Seneca, South Carolina
On Wednesday, July 12, Margaret Leslie Buxton, a beloved wife, mother, and sister, passed away. She was sixty years old and is survived by her sons, Henry Preston Moore and Ethan Livingston Moore, grandchild, Henry Preston Moore Jr., husband Kenneth Michael Buxton, and brother Merritt Edward Yeager.
Born to Margaret Ann Yeager (Maiden name Taylor) of Batesburg, South Carolina and Major Merritt Gerard Yeager of Queens, New York at the Naval Hospital in Beaufort, South Carolina while the family was stationed at MCAS Beaufort. Leslie grew up with her brother Merritt in the family of a Marine officer and pilot and the family frequently moved around the country to different air stations, living in San Diego California, Pensacola Florida, Cherry Point NC (twice), and Charleston SC. This may very well have shaped Leslie’s fearless and outgoing personality. She was quick to make friends and opened her heart to many throughout her life. Settling in Batesburg, South Carolina after her father’s retirement from the Marine Corps, the family settled into life in the small town where her mother was raised. There, attending Batesburg-Leesville High School, Leslie made lifelong friends with so many people that she is friends with to this day. Leslie attended Clemson University and afterward settled in Columbia, South Carolina, meeting and marrying James Tillman Moore, the father of her sons, Preston and Ethan.
Starting her life as a mother, Leslie found her true calling in life, being a wonderful mother to her two sons. Leslie raised her two sons fearlessly and modestly, passing along all of her knowledge to her boys. Throughout the years the boys would see their momma move mountains and always go above and beyond to make their lives happy. She passed her sweet spirit on to them.
Leslie also enjoyed being a lifelong musician as a pianist and vocalist. Leslie sang in and formed several bands throughout her life. She once opened and operated a restaurant with husband Tim in Columbia, SC. She was a sought-after mortgage loan processor for many years where she excelled and was able to provide a life for her family on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. There wasn’t anything that Leslie could not do. She was tough as nails, determined, bright, funny, charming, and loyal.
Leslie remarried having met Ken Buxton while living in Columbus, Georgia and couple have had nine happy years together, living in Columbus, Hilton Head, and St. Helena before they moved to Seneca, South Carolina where they recently decided to settle down.
In 2018 Leslie suffered a car accident resulting in many health issues and challenges from which she was never able to fully recover. Through it all, she kept her children close and her fierce loyalty to her friends and husband who all kept her spirits high. All of Leslie’s friends played a tremendous role in her life, her sons and husband recognized how much they cared for their beloved mother and wife. The family wants to personally thank all the friends of Leslie for always being there for her and taking such good care of her as well.
Everyone will miss her dearly. Her Husband Ken will miss his lifelong best friend and loving wife. Her sons will miss their nurturing mother whose heart knew no bounds but love for them. Her oldest will miss Leslie playing with his son PJ. Her youngest will miss her sweet personality and relaxing on the couch together. Her brother Merritt will miss their brother-sister bond and lifelong jokes. Her friends will miss her unconditional listening ear and love.
A private ceremony was held for the immediate family to see Leslie one last time and send her off on her next journey. Leslie will be cremated, and a family gathering will take place along the coast of South Carolina where her ashes will be spread along with her mother’s Margaret Ann.
We Love you so much Leslie!
