Leanette Rice (Lanning) born to Geneva and Frank Lanning on July 8, 1937, passed away peacefully to be with her husband and sons on June 3, 2024.
Better known as Granny Rice or “Lude” by her husband (Robert), she dedicated her life to being a loving mother, wife and grandmother.
Granny enjoyed her soap operas, trips to the casino with her lipstick in hand, growing the garden with Papa and making sure her grandchildren had “cire cream” for their daily visits. Leanette will forever be remembered for her spitfire personality and undying love for her family.
Leanette is survived by her daughter; Judy Sanders (Ricky), grandchildren; Robby Sanders (Tammy), Jessica Stroud (Paul), Mandy Sanders, Steven Rice, Ashley Robertson (Ryan) and great-grandchildren; Layne, Carmen, Olivia, Ethan, Reece, Blake, Alex, and her “Char Char”. She is also survived by her 7 remaining siblings; Bob, Billy, Ella Mae, Ann, Barbara, Becky, and Frannie.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband (Robert), Sons; Johnny & Steven and her siblings; Pat, Chuck, Jena, Linda, and Jackie.
