Laura Moore Smith

August 22, 1970 — May 30, 2024

Laura Renae Moore Smith, 53, of Westminster, SC passed peacefully Thursday, May 30, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 22, 1970, she is the daughter of Virginia Moore Johnson, and the late Lawrence Hugh (Buddy) Moore. She is survived by her husband Chris Smith and step-brother John Johnson, Jr (Anita) Stevensville, MD.

Laura graduated from Seneca High School, Tri-County Technical College with an associate degree in nursing & Walden University with a BS in nursing, and a master’s degree in healthcare administration.

Laura started her nursing career at Oconee Memorial Hospital as an OB nurse and then transferred to the ER for 19 years, worked as a nursing supervisor, and continued her nursing career throughout many fields of the hospital. Transferred to Dr. Stan Ramey’s office. In her last position she transitioned back to Prisma as the manager of Transition of Care Management. Laura’s nursing career spanned over thirty years of caring for the patients she served and their needs.

Laura married her soul mate and best friend Christopher Lee Smith, Sr. Her husband, mother and friends gave her strength during the rough times she had laughter and joy all the time during her courageous battle with cancer with which she inspired others to share her positive attitude and faith in God. Laura was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.

We wish to thank the staff at Prisma Cancer Center, Palliative Care, Community Care, and Hospice of the Foothills for the wonderful care they provided to her and the family. Memorials can be made to the Oconee Humane Society or to the Friendship United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 1810, Seneca, SC 29679.

The family will hold a private intimate burial
