Judy Marchitto Esteban

August 18, 1939 — January 5, 2025

Judy Marchitto Esteban, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and most importantly, "Grandma JuJu," passed away peacefully in the early hours of January 5, 2025, surrounded by her devoted husband of 62 years, Cilio, and her family.

Born on August 18, 1939, in Queens, New York, Judy’s heart always belonged to the city. While she relocated to Guilford, Connecticut after the birth of her first child, she cherished every opportunity to return to New York, savoring its vibrant energy, sights, sounds, and tastes with family and friends.

At the age of 17, Judy began her lifelong love of travel by working as a ground stewardess for Eastern Airlines. In 1963, during one of her trips, she met the love of her life, Cilio, on a train in Spain. Their instant connection led to a lasting bond, and they married, embarking on a shared journey filled with adventure and love. Together, they raised three children: Thelia (Matt) Folsom, David (Amanda) Esteban, and Susanne (Sean) Hayes. Judy was also the proud grandmother of Drew, Kaylie, Emily, Ella, and Piper, and her grandchildren were the light of her life.

Judy’s family was her everything. She was a constant presence of support, kindness, and generosity. Whether giving rides to neighborhood children, volunteering at school events, or simply offering a listening ear, she was always there for those she loved. Her boundless love extended beyond family, and her friends knew her to be fiercely loyal and genuine. She never met a stranger, and her warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Judy’s love for her family and friends was unwavering, and she was a cherished companion to all.

She is predeceased by her father, Eugene Marchitto, her mother, Rose Valentine, and her sister, Eugenia Malinowski.

A celebration of Judy's life will be held at a later date in Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, in honor of the many survivors and warriors in their family who have faced this disease with strength and courage.

Judy’s legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
