Joseph H. Lucas, known to friends as Joe, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at his home in Westminster, South Carolina. Born on May 22, 1951, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, he was the loving husband of 35 years to the late Jeanne B. Lucas and son of the late William Joseph Lucas and Mary Margaret Basinger.
Joe grew up in a military family and traveled extensively throughout the world with his parents and 3 siblings. He was a member of Mensa and retired from the City of Tarpon Springs Florida Water Department. He is remembered for his love of being on the water with a fishing pole in his hands.
Mr. Lucas is survived by his beloved companion; Paula Dodd of Fair Play, South Carolina, daughter; Christina Stephens Hall (Jon) of Hudson, Florida, granddaughters; Rebekah Pottenger (Ray), Sarah Barefield (Isaac), great-granddaughters; Piper Grace Reid, Phoebe Pottenger, brothers; David Lucas (Kathy), Matthew Lucas (Louise), sister; Julia Curtis (Tom), and 10 nieces & nephews, and 3 great nieces & nephews.
