John Jamie Hulsey, 52, of Seneca, SC, passed away on Wednesday, June 19th 2024 at home surrounded by his family and dogs. John was born in Key West, FL on April 9th 1972 to William Hulsey and Vivian Cleverdon Hulsey.
John had been married to Anne Hulsey for seven years and raised two sons, of whom he was most proud, John Camden Hulsey (23) and Noah Casey Hulsey (18), as well as his stepdaughter Elizabeth Pearson (24). John enjoyed a close relationship with both his sister Kelly Wright and his brother Lary Hulsey with whom he grew up in port cities across the US. John will be remembered for his love of family, friends, and animals; intelligence, quick wit, and well-timed sarcasm; his generosity and hospitality. John was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Ascension where he used his love of cooking to feed all, including church members and the community through outreach which was his passion. John celebrated a long career as a restauranter developing effective teams and mentoring emerging leaders in the industry which earned him numerous accolades. When John was not cooking, he was exploring the beautiful Golden Corner by camping, hiking, fishing, and kayaking with his children, wife, and dogs.
John is survived by his parents William Hulsey and Vivian Cleverdon Hulsey of Hardeeville, SC; his wife Anne Hulsey of Seneca, SC; his children John Camden Hulsey (Donia) of Simpsonville, SC, Noah Casey Hulsey of Seneca, SC, and Elizabeth Rayne Pearson of Thornton, NH; his brother Lary Hulsey of San Jose, Costa Rica, his nephew Chandler Hulsey (Mckhayla) of Zurich, Switzerland and niece Remy Hulsey of Richmond, VA; his sister Kelly Wright (Marc) of Richmond, VA, his nephew Adam Norman of Richmond, VA and niece Alex Norman of Charlottesville, VA.
