Irving “Oody” Rossman

Irving “Oody” Rossman, age 85, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family and pets. Born in Cleveland Ohio on February 27, 1938, he was the son of the late Max and Ida Rossman.
Upon graduating from high school Irving served as a medic in the National Guard before going to trade school to become a printer. While in school he decided to blaze his own path and went on to found the first Damon’s restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, in 1979. He worked tirelessly to grow his restaurant to an international chain. After selling the chain of restaurants many years later he went on to enjoy opening various other fine dining establishments In Irv’s final years, he loved most taking care of his dogs and coaching his grandson in golf, his favorite hobby.
Mr. Rossman is survived by children; David Rossman of Pennsylvania, Maris Rossman, of Ohio, and Susan Rossman, of South Carolina; grandchildren; Samuel Hufnagle, Max Hufnagle, and Quinn Hufnagle, sister; Gilda P. Magid, and his pet dogs for which he lived; Daisey, Abbey, and Lizzy.
In addition to his parents, Irving was predeceased by his brother Jerry Rossman of Ohio.
A celebration of life service will be held at the home of Susan & Shane Hufnagle on May 22, 2023.
