Homer Burrell “HF” Franks, Sr.
Seneca, South Carolina
Homer Franks, age 93, gained his wings on Sunday, December 25, 2022, at Seneca Health & Rehab. Born in Seneca, South Carolina on June 25, 1929, he was the loving husband of 72 years to Mrs. Margaret Ruth Franks and son to the late Thomas Bonner and Effie Mae Gibson Franks.
Mr. Franks was a proud veteran of the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. A machinist by trade, following his service he worked in the textiles industry and retired from Schlumberger Sangamo Weston, Inc.
Homer was an avid musician and self-taught steel guitar player who enjoyed making music alongside of his favorite drummer, his son Burrell. He was able to play with various artists over the years in places like Nashville, TN, local clubs, and at his most loved spot, Rock Springs United Methodist Church in which he was a member.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Franks is survived by his daughter-in-law, Florence Franks of Seneca, South Carolina; granddaughter Betty J. (Robin) Rogers of Seneca, South Carolina, and close family of Sallie Mae Holmes of Hartwell, Georgia and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Mr. Franks was preceded in death by his son; Homer Burrell Franks Jr., sister; Mildred Franks Worley, and brothers; Alfred Franks, Adger Franks, Thomas “Tommie” Franks, Dennis Franks, Doyle Franks, and Artis Franks.
A memorial service is planned for Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Rock Springs Methodist Church in Richland, South Carolina at 10:00 a.m.
The family of Mr. Franks will be at the home of Mrs. Betty Rogers.
