Herbert Gerald Eyler, known to friends as “Herbie”, age 60, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Oconee Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ulster County Kingston NY on May 21, 1962, he was the son of the late Harvey and Corinne Eyler.

Upon graduating from Saugerties Highschool in Ulster County, NY, Mr. Eyler served his country in the United States Navy and attended diver training school. After leaving the service Herbert worked for Food Liner Trucking Services, Boston Buffalo Express Inc., until eventually retiring from the GNH Lumber Company.

In his spare time, he loved fishing, watching NASCAR, and working with rescue dogs and on automotives. Above all else, however, Mr. Eyler is remembered as being a family man who cherished spending time with his loved ones.

Herbert is survived by girlfriend; Diana Salter of Westminster, SC, the mother of his children; Irene Turk of Prattsville, NY, children; Iva (Lee) Jordan of Mars Hill, NC, Corinne (Adam) Smith of Gilboa, NY, grandchildren; Keith Smith, Tristan Wheeler (whom he raised), Isabella Jordan, Kayleigh Wheeler, siblings; Charles Eyler, Brenda Eyler, Debbie (Irving IV) Brown, brother-in-law; Phil Sachs, nieces/nephews/cousins; Robert Eyler (and family), Jessica Santiago (and family), Irving Brown V, Steven Karg, Leah Tompkins, Erika Karg, Jennifer and Marlena Turk, Rebecca Pierce, several great nieces and nephews, in-laws; Perry Turk (and family), Harold Turk (and family), Katharine Kar (and family), Emett Turk (and family).

In addition to his parents, Mr. Eyler is predeceased by Harvey and Margaret Eyler of West Camp, NY, Raymond and Cora Groner of Easton, PA, Harvey and Corinne Eyler of West Camp NY, and Aileen Sachs of Saugerties NY.

A private gathering and celebration of life will be held at a future date.
