Frank "Hank" Hodges Crymes

March 4, 1943 — April 3, 2025

Seneca: Frank (Hank) Hodges Crymes, Jr., 82, passed away on Thursday, April 3 at the Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital. Born in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Frank Hodges Crymes, Sr. and the late Mary Speake Crymes. He was also predeceased by his sister Anne Crymes Zemba.

Hank moved from Whitten Village in Clinton, SC to a residential group home on the Tribble Center campus in Seneca, SC over 30 years ago. He was employed by Kendall for many years and made many friends. Upon his retirement from Kendall, Hank moved into an independent living apartment that he shared with Hugh Brown, Jr. Although there was an 18-year age difference between the two of them, they became close friends and have continued that friendship as neighbors at the Belvedere Commons in Seneca.

Hank enjoyed his friends and staff at the Tribble Center and the weekly activities he attended at the Arc of Oconee, Our Place. He was a devoted member of Seneca Baptist Church and the Special Needs Sunday School Class. He enjoyed playing with the handbell choir and singing in church with his beautiful baritone voice. Hank loved listening to his classical and Mormon Tabernacle Choir CDs. Some of his fondest memories were trips that he took with the Seniors Group at Seneca Baptist Church and the social functions provided by the Tribble Center and the Arc of Oconee County. He also enjoyed sharing stories of his family adventures as they moved around the country following his father's career path. He had deep roots and fond memories of Spartanburg, SC, and Greenwood, SC. Watching the local and national news and the Price is Right on TV were his favorite pastimes. He was also a rabid fan of the Seneca Bobcats, the Clemson Tigers, and the Green Bay Packers football teams.

Hank never met a stranger. He was appreciative of anything that was done for him. Hank would want to give special thanks to Seneca Baptist Church, the Tribble Center, the ARC of Oconee County, Belvedere Commons, and his medical team at Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital.

Hank is survived by one cousin, Tom Russell, of Spartanburg, and many very close friends.

Hank was a kind soul with a big charitable heart, willing and ready to give support whenever possible. Frank (Hank) Hodges, Crymes, Jr. will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of the Funeral Home. A gathering of friends and family will be held before the service from 3:00-4:00 PM at the funeral home.
