Dianne Burton

Dianne Free Burton of Mountain Rest, S.C. Went to be with her beloved husband Mike Dawson on 8-28-23.
Born in Clayton Ga. she was the daughter of the late John Taylor Burton and Gladys Free Burton Wood,
Dianne was a graduate of DAR Boarding School. She had many jobs over the years including Bob Ramey mobile home sales, Avondale, Chickasaw Point gate security, and most recently Keowee Key gate security guard.
Dianne enjoyed gardening, walking her dogs, and going into small shops in Walhalla where she made many new friends. She loved to get to see her step-grandchildren.
Hank and Cilly, her loving dogs, perished with her.
She is survived by two brothers, Keith Wood and Victor Wood, and a sister Cheryl Wood as well as many nieces and nephews of Ga. Stepsons Alan Dawson (Amanda) of Massachusetts, Marshall Dawson (Karen) of Westminster, step-grandsons Luke & Liam Dawson, and Noah Dawson. And her whole Dawson family who loved her very much, as well as her many friends in Mountain Rest and beyond.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Mike Dawson. Sisters Patricia Castley and Donna Jean Smith and a brother Robert Van Wood.
There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, September 9th from 2-4 at Mountain Rest Community Club 120 Verner Mill Road, Mountain Rest, SC.
