Charles Mickey Rogers, age 66, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, while surrounded by his loving family at Oconee Memorial Hospital in Seneca, South Carolina. Born on February 14, 1957, he was the loving husband of 38 years to Vickie Kelly Rogers and son to Charles Ibra and Sue Meroney Rogers.
Mr. Rogers was a native son of Salem and of the Baptist faith. Mickey was an accomplished basketball player and went All-State for Tamassee-Salem in 1974. He continued to play throughout his life and would compete in the Southern Textile Basketball tournament and made the All-Southern team. After graduating high school Mickey enlisted and served our nation gallantly in the United States Army. Upon leaving the service Mr. Rogers worked for 31 years at Duke Energy. He will also be remembered as an avid golfer and Georgia Bulldogs fan.
Mickey is survived by his parents; Charles and Sue Rogers of Salem, SC, wife; Vickie Kelly Rogers of Salem, SC, children; Zachary Rogers of Salem, SC, Taylor Rogers of Salem, SC, grandson; Oliver Van Rogers, sister; Sheree Rogers Hamby (Steve), brother; Brian Rogers (Angie), and many loving nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
