Arthur Whitener, age 89, passed away on March 17, 2024, at the Richard Campbell Veteran Nursing Home in Anderson, South Carolina. Born in Oconee County on May 16, 1934, he was the loving husband of 68 years to Mrs. Mollie Whitener and son of the late Burt Whitener and Beula Cobb.
Mr. Whitener was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a land surveyor for over 40 years. He will be remembered by his friends and family for his love of gardening.
In addition to his wife, Arthur is survived by his children; Sally Mize (Darron) of Seneca, South Carolina, Tony Whitener of Mt. Rest, South Carolina, Angela Brown (Louis) of Salem, South Carolina, grandchildren; Anna Morgan, Noah Powell, Ben Hilley, and siblings; Carolyn Baker, Judy Jones, Curtis Whitener, and great-grandchild Rowyn Morgan.
Arthur was predeceased by his sister; Catheryn Dickerson, and brother; Ray Whitener, and a daughter Telisa Hilley.
