It is with sad hearts we share the passing of Alan Bergwall Olson on August 23, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lois Olson, his two daughters Laurie Barbeau (Ed) and Linda Moniot (Michael). He was grandfather to Elyse and Alexander Moniot and great-grandfather to Rylee and Lilyan Moniot and Quinn and Asher Palleschi. He was well loved and will be greatly missed.
Alan lived a full adventurous life of 93 years. He was born to Lillian and Rudolph Olson on August 14, 1930 in Jamestown, New York. After high school he served his country on the front line of the Korean War. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Rochester and married Lois Blanchard after his discharge from the Army. He went on to have a successful career in quality control engineering at Xerox Corp in Rochester, NY. He was a member of the Ancient Craft Lodge of the free Masons in Rochester, NY.
Alan was an avid sportsman enjoying snow and water skiing, fishing, tennis, golf, hunting, hiking and sailing. He embraced lake life on both Seneca Lake in NY and Lake Keowee, SC. He owned a small RV and enjoyed traveling with Lois putting on thousands of miles around the United States and Canada visiting National Parks and finding many interesting places to stop around our beautiful country. He was member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Those he loved most, his wife, his daughters, his grand and great-grandchildren will greatly miss his love, support, advice, sense of humor and ability to fix just about anything.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Saint Mark Methodist Church pastor’s discretionary fund, Boston Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.
